My weekend is starting to fill up with various activities, including a visit to a longtime antique collector's home to buy some of her treasures. I met the woman's son last Sunday at the Mega Mall's Outdoor Flea Market, where he was selling mostly jewelry from her stash. He has been selling for the last two years, since his mother passed away. I think it's safe to say she was quite an enthusiastic collector. There is still a lot to sell, and tomorrow I'm going to get my chance to buy another heapin' helpin' of her things.
The second activity on my agenda is visiting the Open Market, an event organized by three Lansing ladies and passionate shoppers that are offering an experimental shopping experience for cutting-edge customers that require a vibrant and creative atmosphere. Just in case you can't read the poster below, the event is being held at the Lansing Center from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 23.
This alternative marketplace concept was created by one of my blogland friends, Penny McConnell, along with her sisters, Beth Young and Mary "Cookie" Barnes. I think the poster says it all, and the Open Market should certainly satisfy local folks that are a little weary of the traditional mall offerings.
I'll be back soon for another crafting post. I've got a million ideas swirling in my head!
