I've been trying to concentrate on selling rather than buying lately, but when there's a lot of great stuff right at your feet you can't just ignore it, can you? I thought I'd share some of the things I've purchased lately and what's been selling.
The tin litho tea set below was designed by the popular artist Fern Bisel Peat. Many people collect her charming illustrations, so I had to buy this set for my customers who collect Fern Bisel Peat stuff:
I've always wanted a fruit basket lamp to sell in my booth, and finally found one. This example was made in Czechoslovakia, probably in the 1920's:
I found this "Sugar" tin at the Livingston Antique Outlet during their anniversary sale. I always find something at the antique malls where I sell my things. This is for re-sale as well:
These two perfume bottles are pressed glass, rather than cut glass. They still make striking display pieces:
I am constantly watching eBay for various things. I just snagged this yoyo quilt for a reasonable price because it's not finished. I think it could make a cool wall hanging:
June is almost always my lowest month for sales. People go on vacation or have their money tied up with weddings and graduations. If they do buy antiques they often go to outdoor shows. This year I managed to get through June pretty well, all things considered.
Several pieces of the beautiful Samson porcelain china have been sold since I blogged about it a couple months back:
The sales slip indicated a museum purchased this flow blue sugar bowl from my booth at the Antiques Market of Williamston even though it had damage. I was excited to see that!
A lovely young gal from Australia purchased this fascinator from my Etsy shop:
Colorful aluminum ware has been selling at the Livingston Antique Outlet in Howell, Michigan:
Gertie the Goose didn't last long! I just bought her at the Lake Odessa Antique Show, and now she's been sold to a good home, to a worker at the Livingston Antique Outlet. I still have the Putnam Dyes cabinet:
Now I'm going to list some things from my printout from the antique mall. I don't have pictures of these things, but they sold during the month of June: classic Stetson hat; apothecary jar; general store glass canister; 1949 horse show ribbon; Philco radio; yoyo square; granite ware soap dish; amber glass apothecary bottle; large rockingham bowl; mohair teddy bear; chalkware Mickey Mouse bank; and 10-bottle spice set.
Now I'm looking forward to the rest of July, when sales pick up after the holiday!
