Most of us can remember when we were in high school there was at least one super-talented artist in our graduating class. We had a couple young men and women that showed a lot of artistic skill in my high school in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, but I know if we rank ordered them, Gordon Szczubelek (pronounced zoo-buh-lek) would have been number one. Gordon's specialty was painting and drawing animals back then, although now he can draw or paint anything with his special gift.
Here Gordon has painted a still life of vintage items in his distinctive style:

Gordon graduated from Central Michigan University, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1984. He has been painting for 38 years, and now has an impressive resume. Some of Gordon's paintings have been appriased in the tens of thousands of dollars.
A lover of wildlife, Gordon has contributed to various causes that support both art and wildlife in Michigan and beyond, including Art Reach, PBS, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Let's take a look at some of Gordon's extensive portfolio, more of which can be viewed at ArtWanted.com!
"Michigan Black Bear"
"Seney Sandhills"
"Inseparable"
There are many gorgeous scenes to paint here in Michigan, and I think Gordon captures the feel of lakeside living perfectly. I'd say it's about 82 degrees here, wouldn't you?
"North Side of Mullett Lake"
Gordon has painted many portraits for lasting memories of beloved pets. He will work from photos provided by the pet owner:
"Mikayla"
"Copper"
"Ripple"
"Paris and Lola"
"Felicks"
Gordon lives in Bay City, Michigan, with his dog Woody. I'm going to totally embarrass Gordon by mentioning he's single, ladies!
To contact Gordon regarding a possible commissioned painting you can e-mail him at: petpainter@gmail.com or call him: 231-838-0265.
I am going to have Gordon create a painting as a Christmas gift for a special dog lover in my life. I can't divulge any more information or I'll ruin the surprise! His smaller paintings are quite affordable, so don't hesitate to inquire about them. I think Gordon has a soft spot for pet lovers and offers the pet portraits in a lower price range out of the goodness of his heart! They are a good investment, too.

It's really fun to see the successful people your classmates have become. Gordon is a great example of a young person who had undeniable talent and was encouraged throughout school to develop it. I hope you enjoyed viewing his beautiful art work as much as I have!
