I can't believe I forgot to mention this earlier, but there's an article about me and my antique business in the current issue of Mary Jane's Farm magazine!
I had the pleasure of meeting the magazine's creator, Mary Jane Butters, at The Creative Connection conference I attended in St. Paul, Minnesota over two years ago. Mary Jane and I hit it off and she had one of her writers, Ardis Eckel, contact me last fall to do the article.
While so many magazines have gone under during the last two decades, Mary Jane's Farm cleverly saves money by having interviewees take their own pictures (below). The interview was conducted via Skype. All in all, it was a great experience! I hope you can view the article before the next issue arrives on the scene....
My Michigan friend Kammy Wielenga at Kammy's Korner used some of my yoyo garlands in a unique way when she redecorated her daughter's bedroom. Just look at how lovely they appear draped on this ladder:In other news, my friend Danielle at Blessed Serendipity spotted a herd of javelinas walk across her property, and one of the mothers had a new baby. Javelinas are curious creatures I'm not very familiar with. But babies of just about any species are adorable, and baby javelinas are no exception:
A thoughtful reader, Lois, sent me this image that I know you'll love. It originally came from Shabby In Love:
Last week I posted some vintage Valentines for you to download and use for your own crafting projects. I was lucky enough to find a large, red chalkware heart box recently, and that's what I used for my decoupage project with some of the Valentine images:
Decoupage is such an easy way to transform a plain container. Just a coat or two of Mod Podge and you're done:
My friend and loyal reader Cindy Koth decorates her home seasonally with her vintage collections. She just sent me images of her February mantel decor, which includes her vintage Valentines:
Cindy's favorite, and mine, is the moon smoking a cigar:
I love the daisies with faces, too!
Speaking of magazines, I just bought a huge load of new ones and I can't wait to dive in! There are so many offerings that are up my alley, including a new version of Flea Market Style called Flea Market Style Weddings. We just got about eight inches of snow here, so I'm going to read, craft, and have a fire in the fireplace!
I hope you have a creative weekend,
Mitzi
