Here I am again with another craft tutorial! I certainly have been busy this season.....I told one of my friends I think I'm turning into an elf! Today we are using plain silver glitter snowflake ornaments as a base. The examples below I purchased after Christmas last year at Pottery Barn when they were 50% off. What did I do to them? Added some vintage doodads to them, of course!
For something with a little more color, I created these very simple ornaments:
Glitter ornaments from the craft store, dollar store, etc.
Paper punch or scissors
Assorted vintage lace and/or crochet doilies
Vintage or new Christmas cards or pretty paper
Using the glue gun, add vintage buttons to areas of the glitter ornaments where you want them.
Cut up bits of the lace and crochet to fit areas of the glitter ornaments. Glue with hot glue into place.
There will be a front side and back side to these ornaments. The backside isn't so pretty....but the front is:
For the second version of the snowflake ornaments, simply use a paper punch to obtain diecut images from old Christmas cards, scrapbook paper, vintage wallpaper or other sources of decorative images. Glue the diecut image into the center of the ornament with a hot glue gun.....and you're done!
I buy old Christmas cards like these because I love the old images. I sacrificed some of them for this project by using a paper punch to cut some diecuts from them:
The blue ornament below has a vintage wallpaper diecut, and the red ornament has a vintage Christmas card diecut:
I've sold quite a few of these ornaments at the antique malls, where we can sell new items at Christmas time:
