I'm excited for the new year because I've hatched a plan for my blog that will provide a little something fun and different for readers and will be a challenge for me. Crafting posts have always been the most popular posts, so I'm going to provide more of them this year. Each month during 2014 I'll focus on one type of crafting material throughout the month. Today I'm showing you the craft categories for first six months of the year. By knowing the materials ahead of time, you can be on the lookout for the inexpensive items as you shop at flea markets, garage sales, and antique malls. It's a challenge for me because I need to come up with a month's full of projects for twelve different craft categories.
During the month of January we'll be focusing on vintage Buttons & Buckles:
I'll still be posting about other things, of course. But I'm just excited about doing lots of craft projects this year! Lord knows I have the materials here.....
(That picture was taken during a cleaning & organizing session. It doesn't always look like that around here!)
During the month of February, I have several craft projects that use vintage glass jars, plates, and canisters, so start looking for those items now if you want to try some glass crafts:
I've always wanted to "makeover" an old jewelry box. I've been buying them here and there, along with old cigar boxes, fabric-covered boxes and plain old wood trinket boxes for March, when our craft category is "Boxes."
There are so many creative ideas using Books and Book Pages, I decided to make that the crafting category for April:
In May, I have lots of ideas for using vintage Doilies and Lace:
We can break into our stashes of Vintage Fabric & Trims during the month of June:
And that's just the beginning! I really want to encourage reader participation by asking you to share your ideas and submit photos of your projects to me so we can pin them on a Pinterest board, share them on my blog, and/or share them on my Facebook page. We are also going to use Pinterest for inspiration throughout the year as we tackle the various craft projects together. There's so much eye candy on Pinterest, we might as well use it, right? Send suggestions, comments, and images to me at email@example.com
My next post will be a Button & Buckle craft project, so get that box of buttons out!
