Browse for pictures of characters from popular animated movies. Try searching for something like “recent Disney movie coloring pictures” or “Pixar character coloring pages.” Kids like coloring this type of picture, since the characters are instantly recognizable.
While coloring is usually regarded as a solitary activity, there are plenty of coloring groups available where like-minded people share ideas, techniques, and support. Use social media to find a coloring group to join or ask at your local art club or library. If you want a darker color, try applying multiple layers.
Alternatively, an easy technique to try is crayon rubbings. Simply remove the paper from the crayon, lay it on its side, and rub it gently over the paper. This creates a gentle shade over the paper.
Vary your strokes to add depth to your drawing. Crosshatching is a popular and fairly simple way to create depth using variation in strokes. Crosshatching is done by drawing overlapping sets of lines at right angles (this pattern should look mesh-like).
Choose a coloring book that appeals to you. There are countless coloring books created specifically for kids, so finding one that suits your interests or mood should not be too difficult.
For darker areas, draw these lines closer together. To create highlights, leave more space between each line, or don’t draw any lines at all.
