You are not necessarily limited to actual coloring books. Tons of printable coloring pages are available online and many of them are free.
Browse for pictures of characters from popular animated movies. Try searching for something like “recent Disney movie coloring pictures” or “Pixar character coloring pages.” Kids like coloring this type of picture, since the characters are instantly recognizable.
Search for pictures of flowers and trees if your child likes nature. Search for something like “outdoors children’s coloring pictures.”
Decide what colors you are going to use. For example, you might want to only use cool colors (blues, purples, and dark greens) or only use warm colors (reds, oranges, yellows, and light greens). Or, you might prefer to use all of the colors of the rainbow in your picture.
Once you’ve clicked “print” and the resultant menu pops up, look for a “grayscale” option.] If it’s not immediately apparent, you’ll need to do a little digging.
Making sure that you don’t press too hard with the colored pencils will also prevent them from breaking.
